The Statesville High School's new Career and Technical Education and Athletic building is an ambitious project that brings together state-of-the-art facilities for athletics and vocational training under one roof. The two-story structure is designed to integrate the different programmatic elements, with the lower level dedicated to the school's athletic program and the upper-level housing the woodworking, agricultural, and mechanic shops. The building's design is marked by its connection to the outdoors, with large coiling doors providing access to outdoor work yards for each shop. The building also includes three classrooms adjacent to each shop area to support instruction. The main level corridor is a particular highlight, with its open ceiling system and large storefront systems providing an engaging and interactive space.
